Album re-release, 3 tracks re-mastered!

Things don't always turn out as we plan, it took a solid two weeks of listening but I came to terms with the fact that two songs on the record sounded good and three sounded like absolute mud. So with that being said I'm happy to announce I have greatly improved the sound of the three tracks in question and have re-uploaded them on distrokid and bandcamp, although, unfortunately it may take up to a week for them to appear on all streaming platforms.

What was the issue? Well let's start with the root of the problem, I had a deadline imposed on me to mix the record by a certain date, by my Brother (who generously lent me his mixing setup) and although I had cranked out about one thousand mixes there is a reason many engineers who record their own music do not record, mix and master the entire project as it is difficult to maintain perspective on just exactly what you are listening to. Compound that with the fact that I'm mixing in a totally untreated and (as I've discovered through this process) unusually crummy room for mixing (the high end gets overhyped and the low end is a disaster) it was easy to lose sight of the fact that what I was hearing was not what most people would end up hearing. Even with a much appreciated listening session on a extremely high end set up at Audio Excellence, my notes didn't do me as much good as I would have liked with the state of the acoustics in my room and the time crunch causing me to pull long days of solid mixing when I should have been taking long breaks to allow my ears to re-adjust. Also, if I'm honest it's been a while since I spent hours a day working on audio production and I wouldn't equate having ears for making a professional quality (or something approaching that at least) mix to riding a bike, having been out of practice for some time it would have been wise to check my mix references more than I did.

Well it turns out my Brother never showed up and after being slapped in the face with a sonic mud puddle of awfulness when I took a listen to my album with my Mothers new bluetooth earbuds and with all the excuses out of the way I present to you a 3/5th's remastered edition of my album (remixed would technically be more accurate but since that word is generally used to describe people turning other peoples tracks into some kind of karaoke, frankenstein, mashup .. I'm describing this re-release as a re-master as to not allow for any confusion). This time I've paid close attention to my references and tested the mix/masters on a variety of sources. Although this recording cost me nothing but my own time (which actually isn't that cheap since I haven't been making any money during any of this) there's no reason it should sound that way, the gear and performances that were transferred to digital audio for me to turn into a finished product deserved better than what I was able to come up with the first time around.

I hope you enjoy the tracks in their new form,

All the best!
