Lee McCuaig caught the music bug early when his father brought home a vinyl record of "Are you experienced?" by the Jimmy Hendrix Experience, the Beatles, Rolling Stones and a number of other bands followed. As a former professional musician and member of the famous Canadian band "Downchild", Lee's father Malcolm exposed him to a variety of blues, jazz and R&B from an early age. Then came pickers like country session aces Brent Mason and Vince Gill, after seeing the amazing Tommy Douglas play live Lee had caught the country bug. Even though he grew up a city boy, he'd spend many weekends and summers in the country with family in Durham county so he got a taste of country life, not to mention his dairy farming Grandfather from Cornwall, Ontario left him his "old mountain banjo" book.

Lee cut his teeth playing gigs all over southern ontario in blues and country bands starting at the age of 16, after hundreds of bar gigs and three years studying music at humber college he dabbled in some jazz, worked at a lumberyard, helped his fathers home renovations company, worked at a stereo store, ran a failed classic car bodyshop, joined the army and dropped out (it wasn't for him but he supports the troops) and then decided to get real serious about guitar by taking a lesson with country guitar legend Johnny Highland, as he had only learned guitar by ear and didn't know the notes of the fretboard! After some serious hours on guitar and a handful of gigs with his band at the famous "Grossman's Tavern" in Toronto, he's just released his first EP of original music, money was tight so he played all the instruments himself except for pedal steel Ryan Barwin on "Aubrey". Lee's music is solidly rooted in southern rock, country and blues with a little funk sprinkled on top as well. Keep your eye out for him and his band, they're looking forward to hitting the road and playing a town near you!
